Blog Journal 6
Initially I found Diigo somewhat confusing and it took some time for me to get acquainted with the website format. After some time, I enjoyed Diigo's group and library feature because those features easily organize a lot of information. For instance, the articles posted to the group appeared like a message board which I found accessible. Furthermore, your own posts are stored in your library which functions like an archive.
I have enjoyed the blogging process so far because it is very similar to journaling. I enjoy writing because it helps me organize my thoughts and blogging provides that same organizational outlet. Some Web 2.0 tools we have used in the class are Twitter and blogs. For instance, we used twitter to establish and develop personal learning networks (PLNs). We are also going to be using wikis in the future. A tool I would be interested in teaching is a video sharing website, like Vimeo or Youtube. I think these tools would be best fit to teach high school level students and above. I believe students would be interested in the creativity of video making and therefore also interested in learning. Students learning of the subject would be reinforced in the three phases of video making: preproduction, production, postproduction. Students would gather a lot of information during the scriptwriting process and revisit this learned information during the recording and editing of the vide, in addition to learning how to make a video overall. Hi A's Class Journal!
ReplyDeleteWe chose the same Web 2.0 tool to incorporate in our future teaching environments. I agree that these video hosting platforms offer students a chance to get creative, which aligns with the exact purpose of web 2.0 tools: to go beyond just finding information from the web. I think it is interesting how you noted video making has three phases and these can help reinforce concepts for students. I have definitely experienced this in my prior use of these platforms. One time I made a cooking video for my Spanish 2 class and just the preproduction phase of the video had me understanding concepts further.
Great work on this blog post!
Hey A, I really enjoyed reading your blog! I completely agree with your thoughts about Diigo, it was very confusing to use at first but seems like a cool and helpful collaborative tool. I have never come across another platform where you can share links so easily with annotations. It could be very helpful in a school setting.
